White Hinterland is the pop project of producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Casey Dienel.

Starting on piano at the age of four, she went on to study classical composition at New England Conservatory under Lee Hyla. She has released 3 full-length albums with Dead Oceans, including 2014's LP entitled Baby. Her songs have been featured widely in film and television; most recently on the Song Exploder and She Does podcasts.

Her signature vocals remain the center of the fiercely candid new single "Chill and Natural." Onstage Dienel employs a series of loop pedals, samplers, and synths to construct a sound uniquely her own. She has toured internationally with artists like Son Lux, tUnE-yArDs and San Fermin.

In 2015 she co-founded the label URSULA with her sister Robin Dienel. Currently she divides her time between Brooklyn, NY and Scituate, MA where she built her recording studio The Glades.
